‘Game of Thrones’ season 5 spoilers: The big story ahead for Kit Harrington’s Jon
Throughout the entire “Game of Thrones” promotional season, there has been one thing that remains for the most part a constant: The focus has been put on a select few characters. To a certain extent, we understand why. The idea of Dany and Tyrion meeting is tremendously exciting, and of course you would want to focus on these two for as much time as humanly possible.
With that being said, there are some other characters who have not been talked about nearly as much, and Jon Snow is one of them. Does it still look like there are some great things ahead for Kit Harrington? Based on what co-showrunner David Benioff told Entertainment Weekly recently, it definitely appears to be this way given that he has two separate forces pulling at him Beyond the Wall, and each one of them is certainly formidable in their own way:
“It’s a huge season for Jon. He’s really stepping up and assuming the mantle of leadership. In the wake of the Battle for Castle Black, he’s shown he’s a leader of men. He took control and really saved the day. This season, he starts from a position of more authority than he’s ever had before, and all the responsibilities and pressures that come from that. He’s caught between two powerful kings, Stannis Baratheon [Stephen Dillane] and Mance Rayder [Ciarán Hinds], both of whom he admires in some ways but also finds frustrating because neither is willing to compromise.”
Hopefully, Jon gets some more action scenes to reign supreme at, as well. Some of the best moments of the entire fourth season came during “The Watchers on the Wall,” an episode so fantastic that it completely decimated any predetermined expectations we had for it.
