NBC’s ‘The Voice’: The Tess Boyer situation draws national headlines

Tess Boyer -Typically, the stories revolving around “The Voice” at this time of year are about the current contestants. Very rarely do we see one that is so much about someone who was eliminated a year ago, especially when music is not at the top of the list in terms of importance.

Here is the basic rundown of what transpired today: Former contestant Tess Boyer, who made it very far on this past season of the show, sparked headlines when some of her fellow season 6 alum, including Bria Kelly and Christina Grimmie, expressed concern on social media regarding her whereabouts. No one had heard from her for weeks, her social-media accounts were taken offline, and she stopped attending classes. Eventually, these two and other friends got #FindTessBoyer to be a national trending topic.

However, it turned out that Boyer was fine, and not missing at all despite her friends’ concern. She posted a video this afternoon saying that she wanted to take some time away to focus on herself and her relationship with God. (She comes from a religious family.) Her father told Gossip Cop that she was okay, and was unsure how the rumor started in the first place.

To us, there is no question that this is a bizarre story, and while it is nice to know she is okay, there is still something strange about everything as a whole. After all, why would she not tell most of her friends what was happening? Ultimately, this seems to be a matter that needs to be worked out with her family, so we’re not going to comment on it too much further.

All we’ll say is that we hope she continues to be well, and we’ll send her well-wishes with whatever she is trying to figure out.
