‘The Voice’ review: Clinton Washington, India Carney, Kimberly Nichole, and the battles

Voice -Tonight, “The Voice” debuted its latest round of battles, and of course, there was some entertainment jammed in here all around. We’re going to have to try and figure out whether or not the coaches made the right choices tonight, and that is definitely no easy endeavor. Let’s just say that there is at least one particular performance we’re questioning in terms of the result. (Let’s just say that it involved a coach taking forever to make a decision.)

Without wasting a lot more time, let’s dive in here and talk about some of the individual battles that we saw, along with the winners and the steals. The coaches were a little more conservative in their stealing tonight compared to last week as a whole.

Briar Jonnee vs. Caitlin Caporale, “Fallin'” (Team Pharrell) – We liked Caitlin’s audition a lot, and we for the most part really liked her here. That’s why this was a pretty easy-to-predict start to the Battle rounds. Caitlin wins, and no steal.

Barry Minniefield vs. Jack Gregori, “Feeling Alright” (Team Adam) – We’ll give Adam credit for not just getting rid of the two older contestants right away. Barry has the potential to be something special, even though we’re not entirely sure what that will be just yet. Barry wins, and no steal.

Katelyn Read vs. Treeva Gibson, “Addicted to Love” (Team Christina) – This performance was pretty fun! The song choice was kind of wonky, but they made the most of it. This was not the sort of performance that merited a steal, though. Treeva wins, and no steal.

Kimberly Nichole vs. Lowell Oakley, “Hound Dog” (Team Pharrell) – Basically, Pharrell took forever to make a decision, and the continued snubbery of the brilliant Kimberly continues. Luckily, she was stolen, but how is it that this woman is not a favorite? Lowell wins, Christina steals Kimberly.

Brenna Yaeger vs. Kelsie May, “Fancy” (Team Blake) – No, this is not the Iggy Azalea song. Pure country for the country coach. This wasn’t the best battle. There were nerves and some bad notes on both sides, and we feel like Blake went with the person who had the most overall potential. Brenna Yaeger wins, and no steal.

Clinton Washington vs. India Carney (Team Christina) – You knew that the final battle was going to be very good, and it was! India was a revelation, but Clinton surprised us and earned himself a steal in the process. India wins, and Clinton stolen by Adam.
