‘The Flash’ spoilers: Teases on Barry, Dr. Wells, and more from PaleyFest

“The Flash” had the opportunity to bask a little bit in the PaleyFest spotlight on Saturday, and what we received as a result were some pretty-welcome teases all about what lies ahead for the series. We’re not going to sit here and say that we were necessarily stunned by any of it, but it was ultimately still information that was rather nice to receive.

First and foremost, let’s talk explanations. According to executive producer Andrew Kreisberg, you are going to get an explanation about that whole Dr. Wells / Reverse Flash fight that we saw in “The Man in the Yellow Suit.” Our two theories have always been that future Wells was beating up past Wells, and that potentially he may have been moving so fast that it seemed as though he was playing two separate parts at the same time.

As for a few other assorted teasers…

1. Eventually, the show is going to dive into the subject of Iris’ mother. It’s not guaranteed to happen this season, but this is one of those things that the writers are cognizant of and will touch on at some point moving forward.

2. Katie Cassidy is going to be bringing Laurel Lance / Black Canary to Central City at one point, and suffice it to say that she could replace Plastique as Cisco’s crush-of-the-moment.

3. The show could potentially explore a major Flash story from the comics in the near future.

4. The preview that aired before the panel featured more of Gorilla Grodd, though it’s not entirely clear if this character will have most of his good stuff saved for next season. So far, he has existed mostly in the shadows.
