‘Mom’ season 3 spoilers: Jaime Pressly to join Anna Faris, Allison Janney as regular

Fresh off of its season 3 renewal, the official cast of “Mom” is expanding yet again. CBS confirmed on Friday that “My Name Is Earl” alum Jaime Pressly is going to be expanding her role as Jill. Specifically, she will be a regular starting next season.

For those who have not seen much of the show lately, Pressly’s Jill is sponsored by Christy (Anna Faris) as she recovers from her addictions following multiple stints in rehab. Unfortunately, her selfish and at times obnoxious nature makes her a very difficult person to help from time to time. There’s clearly some potential here, given that Pressly has such a rich comedy background and Chuck Lorre tends to make the most of talented people.

However, we are still somewhat concerned about this show having such a big cast for a half-hour comedy, especially when you don’t see them all in every episode. Then again, “The Big Bang Theory” has managed to pull off seven regulars and two or three recurring players pretty well, leading to the show having the best ratings of any comedy on TV. “Mom” has done fairly well, so the writers / producers clearly know what they are doing.

Now that we’ve said that, we would be rather keen to see more of Octavia Spencer, as well! Granted, we realize that this may not be too easy of a thing to pull off, given that she is likely fielding all sorts of offers following the end of “Red Band Society.” After all, she really should be.

What do you think about this promotion, and are you hopeful to see what Pressly is going to bring to the show with that added job security? Share below.
