‘Law & Order: SVU’ season 16 spoilers: Rob Morrow’s ‘Devastating Story’

Law & Order: SVU logoIf you count yourself as among the #SVUDiehards on social media, ethen you are probably aware already that Rob Morrow is going to be guest-starring on an upcoming episode of “Law & Order: SVU” airing on April 1. We now have some of the first details from this appearance, and it feels already like this “Devastating Story” is going to be a strong one.

Many episodes of the series tend to revolve around important questions, and for this particular installment, that question is simple enough: Are we going to see someone so desperate to maintain their style of reporting that they are willing to jeopardize a rape case in the process? Based on the synopsis that we have for this episode below, it certainly appears as though this will be the case:

“Popular television host Skip Peterson (guest star Rob Morrow) airs an interview with college student Heather Manning (guest star Ally Ioannides), who claims she was gang raped in a fraternity house. While the tragic account of Heather’s story brings national attention to the epidemic of rape on campus, the sensational details of the she-said, they-said case leaves Sgt. Benson (Mariska Hargitay) and ADA Barba (Raul Esparza) with several suspects and a rocky trial.”

It’s possible that the commentary here could be that Peterson cares more about the story than necessarily its victim, and that may be a commentary at times on the media in general. So often these days, we have cases that tend to be either falsely reported, or rushed by people desperate to be the first publication out there.
