‘Scream Queens’ spoilers: Joe Manganiello out; also, see Emma Roberts in new promo!

Let’s go ahead and get some of the bad news out of the way when it comes to Fox’s ambitious new horror-comedy “Scream Queens”: We are going to be losing Joe Manganiello. The “True Blood” star was, per Deadline, forced to drop out of the show because of his promotional schedule overseas for “Magic Mike XXL.” That’s definitely a bummer, given that we would have loved to see him on the show. The good thing here is that because the show is working off of an anthology premise, it is very well possible that he could be cast for some sort of role in the future.

As for his replacement, current “Nashville” recurring player Oliver Hudson is on board. We almost feel bad for Hudson here; he’s a fine actor, but he has to come in after so many people were excited to see someone else in the part. The actual role is not known, but given that the setting here is college, he was probably meant to be either a teacher or some employee around campus.

Also today (given that it is Friday the 13th and all), executive producer Ryan Murphy revealed another teaser for the show, with it this time around it revolving around series star Emma Roberts. Based on this, it feels pretty obvious to us that this character will have quite a few similarities to Madison, who she played on “American Horror Story” season 3. Certainly, this trailer definitely works up that “suggestive” angle to the best of its ability.

There is no set premiere date for the series, but it only seems appropriate that it would premiere at some point around Halloween. This is when Murphy’s aforementioned FX series tends to scare up the most numbers.

Are you excited for this show, or feel more like we’ve got too many in this vein already? Share with a comment.
