‘Last Comic Standing’ season 9: Anthony Jeselnik to host; Norm MacDonald to judge
For all those hoping to see “Last Comic Standing” become even more biting, we feel like this is good news: We have a new host for the upcoming ninth season!
Sources confirm that Anthony Jeselnik, a popular comic and occasional Comedy Central roaster, has been brought on to be the replacement for JB Smoove on the upcoming season of the show. To us, this is a step in the right direction. JB never really found a good groove in his role, and it seemed to hamper his comedic ability to a great degree to have to stick to a certain script. Jeselnik, meanwhile, is more deadpan, and we would if he will find creative ways to circumvent the familiar host copy. He’s not going to have the same energy, but we still remember seeing him for the first time watching the Comedy Central Roast of Donald Trump and laughing hysterically. Greg Giraldo would’ve been proud.
Also, there is a change in the judging panel for the upcoming season as well. Norm MacDonald, comic and former “Saturday Night Live” cast member, is going to be joining Russell Peters, Roseanne Barr, and Keenen Ivory Wayans on the show this summer. We like Norm a whole lot, but do we really need four judges? We care much more about the contestants themselves than anything that the actual judges have to say.
Also, let it be known that we are still waiting to hear what is going on with Rod Man, who got that development deal as a result of winning the show last season. We still feel like he actually has the voice that you need in order to pull off his own show.
