‘The Bachelorette’ spoilers: Filming beginning soon for Kaitlyn Bristowe, Britt Nilsson

Britt -When you are “The Bachelorette,” there is clearly no rest for the romantic. Just over two days after they were officially revealed to the public, this week marks the beginning of Kaitlyn Bristowe and Britt Nilsson’s journey to find love.

Show creator Mike Fleiss confirmed the news in a post on Twitter today, while also dealing with a variety of people still complaining about the twist in general of throwing two women into this, even though only one of them is going to be the lead. Even some former Bachelor and Bachelorette stars have been critical of it. Our feeling on it, to quote Kaitlyn, is that it’s “not ideal,” but at the same time the show had to do something to boost ratings. Also, let’s not pretend like the stars are not being compensated for it, or that they were forced into taking part.

Of course, this twist is still a huge risk for the show. Many have claimed it to be unfair and even degrading to the two leads, and if many of those threatening to not watch the season actually follow through with it, there will be trouble. The issue here is that it is very hard to ultimately tell what the follow-through rate on such a thing is in advance. Once again, let’s not pretend here that this is the first time people have threatened to not watch a season months before it actually premieres.

We’re currently debating what to do when it comes to revealing who the Bachelorette ultimately is. The reality here is that everyone’s going to know about it within a day of the twist ending; while we don’t like actually spoiling anything outcome-related when it comes to the show, this has become such a story that it would be ridiculous to sit here and pretend like spoilers haven’t come out about it. With that being said, we would never spoil the outcome of an actual season.

For the record, we do still believe that the show should try some other twists, even if they are simple ones. We’re campaigning for a design-a-date, where fans get to choose everything from the location to the car to the musical performance to even what the Bachelorette and her man get to wear. Nothing that’s too crazy, of course, but it adds more interactivity.

We’ll figure out what to do about this soon enough, but for now, head over here to get some other TV updates on everything we cover via our CarterMatt Newsletter. (Photo: ABC.)
