After spending most of the past few seasons in a very familiar sort of costume, Maisie Williams had to appreciate going back to “Game of Thrones” for season 5. Arya Stark is on the move to a brand-new place far away from King’s Landing and those who want to find her, and this means that for the first time in a while, she does not have to be so incognito!
The photo at the top of this article is the one you likely remember Arya as; however, the one below (via Entertainment Weekly) is the brand-new version of the character now that she’s in her new home. Williams tells the website that it was a relief for her to do something new, and that the crew certainly had come to recognize her mostly in the outfit she wore for such a long time:
“It’s very neutral, very plain, but clean! I have clean hair that actually moves … I came onto the set and nobody recognized me.”

There could be an almost interesting parallel between this new Arya and what we are currently seeing on “The Walking Dead” this season in Alexandria. They people have found new clothes and a new home, and there are questions as to whether or not they can change. Are they defined by who they’ve been? Arya may have to answer that same question. Maybe she still needs her action and survival skills as much as always, but it is still to be seen.
The new “Game of Thrones” season begins April 12, and it will be simulcast all around the world. To have some other TV updates sent over to you weekly, be sure to sign up now for our CarterMatt Newsletter. (Photo: HBO.)
