‘Dancing with the Stars’ 20 spotlight: Do Rumer Willis, Val Chmerkovskiy stand a chance?

Rumer Willis -We’ve made it to the final edition of our “Dancing with the Stars” spotlight series, and we’re also here with someone who could be a complete wild card in the competition depending on how things go: Rumer Willis. She’s someone you’ve probably heard of plenty over the years; this happens when you are the daughter of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore. However, you may know her more for headlines than anything about herself.

The good news coming into this season is that she is a seasoned performer and she has a good partner. Will there be a following big enough to keep around around? We’re going to have to wait to figure that out.

Name – Rumer Willis

Age – 26

Claim to fame – Obviously, she is well-known as the daughter of two A-list celebrities, and part of the appeal for the show here will be getting a chance to showcase her parents cheering her on in the audience. That’s what happened with Sadie Robertson last season. In addition to this, Rumer has appeared on everything from “Pretty Little Liars” to “CSI: NY” to “Medium” during her acting career.

Partner – Val Chmerkovskiy. While he has yet to reach the summit on this series, Val has proven himself to be a very strong partner with a variety of different performers over the years. He just worked with Janel Parrish, and they made it very deep into season 19.

Strengths – Being an actor always helps when it comes to getting into the character of the dance. She’s done comedy and drama, so there is not a definite weakness there. We’re not sure if she has any dance experience at all, but she’s going to most likely be athletic enough to pull off most of the moves.

Weaknesses – How many devoted fans does she have? While she’s a familiar name, We worry that she could be forgotten about and fall victim to a shock boot relatively early during the season. A good comparison here would be either one of the ladies from “The Hills,” who had a small following that did not translate over well.

Prediction – Rumer is one of those people who could go either way. If she struggles week one, we could see her out almost immediately. However, if she proves herself as a force in the early going, we can see her making it to the final six or so. We’re not sure if she has the built-in fans or the story needed to win. Typically, you need one of the two here.
