‘Chicago Fire’ season 3, episode 17 review: Mouch’s meeting; Brett’s revelation
Clearly, “Chicago Fire” has established itself very well over the past few years as a good character drama, and we saw further proof of that during Thursday night’s new episode. While we’d still say that Casey is the anchor of this series, he really was not the focus as much this week following the end of the Pridgen saga.
Instead, the most emotional story tonight was Mouch realizing what a huge mistake he had made last week with his song that he never about, and after that, he made an effort to fix that and then some. For example, there was a daughter he also never knew he had, and much of this story for him was about finding the courage within him to sit down for the meeting. This time, he did, and he also saw his son to go along with that.
One of the other big developments during this episode was the introduction of Scott Rice (Warren Christie), a man from Severide’s man who was looking for some work desperately. Controversy erupted over whether or not he was right for the gig, but Kelly is showing some serious loyalty right now. This is also causing him to look back towards his past even more, specifically in terms of some people he may have wronged.
Ultimately, one of the most important moments that did come out of this episode overall was the revelation via Brett that while she cares about Cruz, this is not the life that she came here for from Chicago. Therefore, she has determined that this could be a good time for her to have some sort of a change. Grade: B.
