‘Agents of SHIELD’ season 2, episode 12 review: Lady Sif returns; Can Coulson save Skye?

Lady Sif -You’ve waited for a long time to see Lady Sif back on “Agents of SHIELD,” and we have to say that it was certainly worth it! Tonight brought the return of Jaimie Alexander was definitely fun, even if it did mean some not-so-easy situations involving her, Skye, and the Kree.

To us, the biggest long-term takeaway from her appearance here was mostly a warning: Know what you have in Skye. She is very dangerous, and she proved it yet again tonight in showing what she is capable of. Regardless of this, though, Coulson is still desperate to protect her and keep her close. He knows that her nature is good, and he most likely does not want to give up on her for this reason … regardless of whether or not it is the right move.

So Skye stays, and we see what happens with her next as Lady Sif eventually regained her identity and departed. Maybe we’ll see her again, but she really is better off in some ways as an occasional character to be added to this universe.

The larger question moving forward, aside from Skye, is how much Mac and Bobbi are willing to hide the current secret from Coulson. Mac, clearly, is willing to do quite a bit to harm anyone who gets in his way. Are these two traitors, or operating within some sort of gray area? It’s too early to tell, but after Ward last season, having another traitor in the midst would be boring. Let’s hope for something more complex. Grade: B.
