‘Arrow’ season 3 spoilers: Don’t count on Harley Quinn anytime soon

Harley Quinn -We’ve made it no secret that we are an enormous fan of all things Harley Quinn. With that in mind, we of course wanted to see the character on “Arrow” for as long as possible.

However, this was just a situation where despite all of our own personal hopes and dreams, it was just not meant to be. We never actually saw the character’s face on the show, even though she was voiced by Tara Strong. Also, she was moved off of the Suicide Squad after her cameo last season (there was another cameo that never aired), and it seems the Cupid has more or less taken her place.

What’s the reason for all of this? While at a recent panel in Long Beach (per Comic Book Resources), executive producer Marc Guggenheim made it clear that it is mostly an issue of having the real chance to do it. There’s already a Batman series on TV in “Gotham,” and that may eventually dive into her mythology. In between that and “Suicide Squad,” apparently the folks at DC decided that there really did not need to be three different versions of Harley Quinn out there.

The irony here is that we would totally watch a Harley Quinn-specific series if it ever came to pass, but it seems like that’s not in the plans at any point in the future.

As for “Arrow,” just think of this as what would’ve been, and who knows? Maybe something will change down the road.
