‘Battle Creek’ episode 3 preview: First look at ‘Man’s Best Friend’

Battle Creek -Did you enjoy the second episode of “Battle Creek“? This is a police show that really does feel like it has some serious potential. Unfortunately, it is also struggling with one simple misfortune: Scheduling. In being on the air at a traditionally rough time for CBS, ratings were not great for the premiere. Hopefully that turns around, since there is some actual creativity being put into some of the cases. When was the last time you saw that? It’s sadly not a regular occasion in shows of this genre.

A great example of this said creativity is next week’s installment “Man’s Best Friend,” which features at its center a story about a drug-sniffing dog. Strangely, we really don’t see them on many police shows, even though they exist in many departments. Take a look at the synopsis for more:

“When BCPD’s police dog, Cookie, sniffs out a stash of heroin in a young girl’s backpack, Russ and Milt have competing theories as to where it came from and why she had it.  Also, Jacocks travels to Detroit for a training seminar, with the ulterior motive of finding out why Milt was sent to Battle Creek.”

If this episode turns out to be a win, then it has the potential of having the second-best character named Cookie on TV in 2015. Nothing trumps Taraji P. Henson right now! The same also goes for the ratings there.

Overall, we like the direction of the series, and the chemistry between Josh Duhamel, Dean Winters, and Kal Penn. Let’s just hope that this all continues.
