NBC’s ‘The Voice’ preview: Adam Levine, Ellie Goulding show mentoring prowess

Is Adam Levine really going to be a dominating force on “The Voice” this season? He wants you to think so, and he even brings along some video evidence below of what he could bring to the table … in theory.

This video showcases both Adam and his new adviser Ellie Goulding putting his team through the ropes. There are a variety of different people on this team with at least some potential to go far, but we’re not necessarily getting instant winner vibes from anyone just yet. At this point last year, we felt pretty sure that Matt McAndrew was going to at least be a finalist; there’s no one right now we are anywhere near that confident about.

Ultimately, though, what we do think is that sooner or later, Adam will be able to throttle Blake Shelton more than he has before, and the same goes for the other coaches. If the goal here is to really get a star you can fall behind and watching moving further into their career, eventually some of those country artists will star to blend together. This all to us dictates that it is time for some other people to win. Maybe we can get someone this season who could be a genuine pop star after the fact. Through all of the winners we’ve had on this show over the years, none of them have really fit into that box.
