‘The X Factor’ UK rumor patrol: Is Olly Murs set to get major role?

The latest news -We know that the British press loves to write about “The X Factor.” Also, we know that there is typically some flux when it comes to the judging panel. Therefore, can we really say that we are too surprised by the latest stories coming out in regards to Olly Murs? Well, we’re really not.

Regardless, here is what we have for you today. According to a report out of the Daily Star, the former contestant and “Xtra Factor” host is being courted for some sort of mystery role on the show, whether it be an extra judge, a co-host, or a replacement for someone who is already a part of the series. A source close to the publication passed on the following message on the subject:

“Simon has been incredibly vocal that The X Factor needs to see some major changes. It is too early to confirm what they are yet but one thing is for certain – everybody wants Olly to be a part of the show. Olly’s become a huge in- ternational star off the back of the show, he’s well liked from his time presenting the Xtra Factor and is massively popular with the all-important younger fans.”

The biggest thing with Olly is that we don’t know of a single demographic who dislikes him. He’s the consummate entertainer and professional, and would do well at almost anything. If we had it our way, we’d put him in the place of Louis Walsh; we don’t actually hate Louis, but Simon Cowell undermines him so much, it is impossible for him to really garner any respect with anyone.

Another good possibility would be for him to serve almost as an in-house mentor, working with contestants behind the scenes in order to ensure that they are as great as possible. Ultimately, though, we still won’t believe this to be true until ITV says something; there’s just not enough of a track record with British publications to believe anything.

What do you think: Should Olly join the series in any capacity? Let us know right away with a comment! Also, head over here to get some further TV news worth singing over courtesy of our CarterMatt Newsletter. (Photo: ITV.)
