‘Shameless’ season 5, episode 8 preview: Emmy Rossum’s Fiona pleads with Ian

Can you believe that we are nearly two-thirds of the way through this season of “Shameless”? Time flies when you are watching the Gallaghers do crazy things, and they have definitely done their fair share of them over the past seven episodes. At the same time, there have also been some circumstances out of their control, and a story for Ian that is really more sad than anything else.

Showtime has released a pair of sneak peeks for Sunday night’s new episode that give you a pretty panoramic sense of what is coming up. Allow us to be your guide!

1. Lip asks Kevin for a favor – Is Kevin really interested in getting the “ice cream truck” back in business? Lip makes this offer to him as a way to make some quick cash, and he even offers up a great strategy (at least if you want to see something like this): Hitting up colleges, where kids are wasted and willing to do something stupid.

2. Fiona tries to help Ian – Unfortunately, we are still not entirely sure after watching this that we have someone in Ian who is altogether willing to help himself. Instead, he spends more of his time in this preview struggling with what happened with the baby than listening to what Emmy Rossum’s character has to say. While Ian may not be a relatable character to everyone, he is to some. The show does a very good job at painting his picture of mental illness.
