‘Madam Secretary’ spoilers: Bob Schieffer and ‘Face the Nation’

There are many things that we enjoy about CBS’ Sunday-night lineup of “Madam Secretary” and “The Good Wife,” but one of them is that the two shows really do almost everything in their power in order to introduce elements of realism. One of the ways that they do that is by doing a little network cross-promotion. On some shows, this comes across as incredibly annoying. However, it totally works here since speaking on morning news shows is something a character like Elizabeth McCord would be actually doing.

“Face the Nation” is the title for the upcoming March 22 episode of the show, and it is appropriate given that Tea Leoni’s character will be speaking on the show with Bob Schieffer during the episode. You can check out some more details in the attached synopsis, which makes it rather clear that there is a complete bevy of storylines going on over the course of the hour:

“As Elizabeth struggles to hold herself together emotionally following the attack in Iran, she works to prevent an ecological disaster in the Amazon, and prepares for a national television appearance on “Face the Nation.” Also, she and Henry disagree about the level of protection Jason should have at his new school.”

Ultimately, let’s just hope that this episode completely manages to give us as much variety as it sounds like it will, since in theory this is completely exciting. What will also be interesting about this episode is that it may be coming at the conclusion of the Secretary Marsh trilogy-of-sorts that began on this past episode.
