‘American Horror Story: Hotel’: Neil Patrick Harris comments on Lady Gaga casting

American Horror Story -American Horror Story” knows a thing or two about pulling off really big, surprising castings for some of their shows. It was only last season that Ryan Murphy managed to snag both Matt Bomer and Neil Patrick Harris for guest stints in the “Freak Show,” and now, he has managed to get Lady Gaga on board for “American Horror Story: Hotel.”

So what does Neil have to say about what Murphy pulled off with Gaga? Just as you would expect, the host / entertainer / jack of many traders was rather impressed. Speaking to the Huffington Post in what was a pretty far-reaching interview, he explained that this was the right sort of venue for her to show people that there is so much more that she can do beyond just being a fantastic singer:

“I’m always impressed by Lady Gaga’s talents, and the fact that she branching out beyond what people know her for. It’s a bold move, and there’s no better show to surprise people with than ‘American Horror Story.'”

In this same interview, Neil also commented that he is probably not going to be particularly interested in returning to host the Oscars, mostly because it is such an enormous time commitment. He received for the most part mixed reviews for his performance; while he was not perfect by any means, we can also name at least a few hosts who fared worse at it over the past several years.

The new season of “American Horror Story” will premiere on FX this fall, and there’s no word if Neil will be a part of it.
