‘Blue Bloods’ season 5: Tom Selleck bringing back Jesse Stone … but not to CBS

Blue Bloods season 5While Tom Selleck may now have a full-time gig on CBS in “Blue Bloods,” his popular “Jesse Stone” TV movie series is going to continue. However, the twist here is that it is about to come to another network for a chance.

According to a report from Deadline, Selleck is going to reprise his famous crime-solving character for an upcoming movie that is going to air on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries at some point later this fall. The title? “Jesse Stone: Lost in Paradise.” Who knows? Maybe this is a way for him to do a little bit of work while vacationing somewhere at the same time. (Then again, we are probably reading way too much into the title of something, but that is a part of the fun!

Obviously, this should not interfere at all with what “Blue Bloods” is currently doing. He will likely film the TV movie during his filming hiatus, and then return to the series during the summer, in the event the show is renewed for a sixth season. While we wouldn’t say a renewal is a sure thing, it is extremely likely given that it continues to be CBS’ most-watched show on Friday night, and while its demo numbers are not tremendous, it does have a tendency to at least match, if not top, “Hawaii Five-0” and “The Amazing Race.”

There are still many more season 5 episodes to go, and they are going to air on the aforementioned night at 10:00 p.m. Eastern time.
