‘Person of Interest’ season 4, episode 17 preview: A look back into Finch’s past
Let’s start with the bad news here for some fans of “Person of Interest” out there: There is not a new episode airing on CBS tonight. Now that we’ve said that, why not share a few more details about what to expect here? This installment is entitled “Karma,” and the story here revolves a little bit around Reese and Finch’s attempts to help keep a psychologist safe. He may be a good man, but at the same time, the way in which he treats his patients could end up landing him in some hot water.
What about the rest of the story? Per the CBS synopsis, we are going to have a chance to see some more of Finch’s past, and how he recovered after the death of his old friend:
“Reese and Finch try to protect a psychologist whose unorthodox methods for helping his patients find closure could cost him dearly. Meanwhile, flashbacks reveal Finch’s fragile state in the days following the bombing that killed his best friend, Nathan Ingram.”
This episode should be emotional in a way, and also stacked full of some action. On the surface, this does feel like a pretty traditional “Person of Interest” episode! However, at the same time, how many times have we said that before about other episodes? This has been a shocking story so far this season, and we have seen everything from Shaw’s apparent death to the reveal that she actually is alive, and the option is open for Sarah Shahi to return at some point in the future.

I can’t wait for Shaw’s return! If this show were nothing but Reese, Finch, and Fusco in a “person of the week” it would get incredibly dull.

Shaw can stay gone. The show feels better without her depressing attitude sucking up screen time for Reese and Finch.
