‘Rizzoli & Isles’ season 5, episode 15 review: Frankie’s new romance, Angela struggles with spending

Rizzoli and IslesIf you thought that the Angela storyline on “Rizzoli & Isles” was going to slow down a bit now that she’s found a job then you are definitely mistaken. It has been 2 episodes in a row now where the main focus has been on Angela and less on Jane and Maura and it seems we are coming up on lucky number 3.

Now that Angela’s making good money at the bar she’s gotten a few new credit cards, is buying fancy food for Jane and Maura and she’s shopping like never before. Jane is worried that Angela’s spending is getting out of control and talks to Maura about getting Angela on some sort of budget before she ends up spending all her cash and moving back in with Jane (no one wants that). Maura brings Angela a book on managing her money, but she calls Maura out on spending loads of money on her closet leaving both women at a standstill. Finally Jane, Maura, and Angela all realize that they all have a few financial skeletons in their closets and they stop giving Angela a hard time.

Frankie failed his firearms test and he only has 2 more chances to pass or he will be suspended. As it turns out he failed his firearms test on purpose so that he could spend some more time at the firing range, because he’s interested in the firing range instructor named Alexandra. When Frankie goes to take his firearms test a second time he actually tries this time, but Alexandra is standing too close and he can’t focus and fails again. He asks Jane to come to the third test to distract him from Alexandra. Did Frankie fail the third time? Not after finding out that Alexandra has a wife and kids and that he doesn’t have a chance – he passes with flying colors.

We really like Angela, she’s fun and spunky, but we have to say after 3 episodes that are Angela-centric we really want to move onto something else. Watching Frankie with a new love interest was a lot of fun since we love seeing the ridiculous things he does to get close to a woman he likes. Also we love Maura’s pink gun – she’s so adorable. Episode grade: B-
