Friday is a case of good and bad news for everyone watching CBS. While the good news here seems to be that there is a new episode of “Hawaii Five-0” coming on the network, this news is not translating over to “Blue Bloods.” This show will be off until Friday, March 6, when the episode entitled “Occupational Hazards” comes back on the air.
What’s the reason for this? Ultimately, it boils down to the simple fact that there are more episodes in a season of “Hawaii Five-0” than there is of this show, and there have to be some off weeks here and there. This is something that will most likely happen at least one more time this season in order for the pattern to ultimately work out just right. It’s not easy to do 24 episodes a season, and we feel like the only reason that “Hawaii Five-0” probably pulls it off is because many of the cases are somewhat similar, and they also have a pretty large cast.
When “Blue Bloods” does return, be prepared for some more episodes that put our heroes in at least a certain amount of danger. This is also the time where you start to at least think for a minute or two about whether or not the show has a future beyond its current run on CBS; if we were a fan of this, we’d still feel reasonably confident. The ratings have been solid, and we don’t see many other reasons why it is going to run into trouble.
We will have some other news related to the show as it starts to come out, so be sure to stay tuned!
