‘Empire’ episode 9 preview: Cookie learns Anika’s secret; Estelle guest stars
Tonight’s new episode of “Empire” was certainly stuffed to the brim with content and surprises, from Anika and Lucious moving forward a potential wedding date to recording drama to Cookie proving once again that she may be the best TV character of 2015. (Seriously, someone give Taraji P. Henson an Emmy nomination already.)
Next week, all of that seems to be continuing with an installment entitled “Unto the Breach.” Estelle is one of the notable guest stars here, as is Judd Nelson. This basically gives someone else for Lucious to square off against who is not in the middle of some romance funny. Ultimately, expect some chaos at Empire Entertainment before this installment comes to a close.

As the Lyon family rallies to save Empire Entertainment, all three sons take drastic measures: Jamal gets close with famous artist Delphine (guest star Estelle), Hakeem works hand-in-hand with Cookie and Andre is pushed way beyond his limits.”
Ultimately, there are only a small handful of episodes left this season! With that in mind, you have to brace yourself for plenty of drama and surprises every step of the way. Who knows? Your jaw may end up hitting the floor by the time this season comes to an end.

What I would like to see happen especially in light of Anika’s betrayal to Luscious is for Cookie and Luscious to immediately get married and make sure that it is a big affair that is celebrated in this fictional world of Empire’s celebrity media paparazzi. I want Cookie to rise to this occasion by being a ‘woman of substance’ and playing it to the hilt. Right now, Cookie is extremely vulnerable to Luscious because she is still in love with him and she hasn’t sex in years. The episode should be entitled “A pact with the Devil’ because this time around the marriage between Cookie and Luscious will be all about ‘Empire’.
Luscious is already married to Empire, Empire is first with him. When I said i wanted Cookie to rise to the occasion, what I mean is that Cookie would respond to Luscious’s treachery to her (treating her like a silly groupie and not the mogul matriarch that she really is) with an uncharacteristic calculating coldness and she should match Luscious’s icy Empire first demeanor. The truth of the matter is this, while we all (myself and most fans are team Cookie) want Cookie and Luscious to get back together, Luscious has changed from the man that Cookie married and Luscious’s soul mate at this particular moment in time is really ruthless, cold blooded ice princess Anika, whose fatal flaw is her inexperienced treacherous response to Luscious’s infidelity. She went to far and Cookie and Luscious need to close ranks against her in order to keep their compancy intact for the next generation Lyons: Andre, Jamal, and Hakeem. Cookie has to take the bulls by the horn and replace Anika and whatever emotional hold Anika has over Luscious but to do this, Cookie would have to put away that drippy sentimental dream that kept her going in prison: her and Luscious together as 1 happy family with their 3 boys. Cookie would have to put Empire first and harden her feelings against Luscious, the same way that Anika handles Luscious. In truth, Cookie would have to change in order to be the Queen of Empire as it is now, Cookie wants what she had with Luscious before she went to prison, and that is no longer relevant( at this time). They, Cookie and Luscious have to forge a new bond where each one makes a ‘pact with the devil’ to save Empire. Cookie said it herself, right out of her mouth to Jamal. ‘in this business, you have to do all sorts of things that you don’t want to do , there is a cost to hit big and some day that bill gone come due’
