‘Justified’ season 6, episode 7 spoilers: Walton Goggins teases major Boyd, Ava scene
Throughout this final season of “Justified,” one very important question has lingered: Is Boyd Crowder going to find out the truth about Ava’s betrayal, and what happens when he does? Ultimately, we got a sense of the former at least on Tuesday night, as he is starting to come to terms with the fact that a woman he loved to the ends of the earth, and was the one weakness in what is a pretty heavy suit of armor, is far from who he thought. He’s devastated, and with his history, this is not a man you want to make angry.
Going into next week, let’s just say that there is a major reason to fear for Ava. She will be going on a hunting trip with Boyd (terrible idea), completely unaware of what he knows. Speaking about this per The Hollywood Reporter after tonight’s episode, Walton Goggins teased some major scenes that will come as a result of this:
“It is one of the most volatile, mind-bending experiences I’ve ever had as an actor … It’s psychological warfare, administered by Boyd Crowder. He’s as nefarious and deviant as they come in a lot of ways. And a warning to the person who breaks his heart or puts him in that position, because he will put you through it until he finds out what it is he’s looking for. Going through it was excruciating. It was very difficult to do. But so rewarding. It gets dark in the room before anyone turns on the light.”
Here is the crazy thing about Boyd, though: There is still no guarantee that he kills Ava at all, or has someone else do the dirty work. His love for her burns so strong that we could see a scenario where he forgives her for everything. This ups the ante and the mystery of the next episode, and it makes it all the more interesting to watch.
