‘Pretty Little Liars’ season 5, episode 21 review: Emily’s pageant problem; Spencer in England
Now matter where one of the “Pretty Little Liars” manages to be, the show somehow manages to be as crazy and/or shocking as you would expect and then some. How else do you explain a primary story that revolves a little bit around Spencer having a bag full of blood in Oxford? She went across the bond for an interview at Oxford, but this may end up becoming a little more of an extended trip.
Basically, things are unraveling slightly back in America, with Hanna and Aria in particular experiencing absolute chaos as they start to collect more information on Ali, who is desperately claiming that she wants to “start over” after everything that happened during the first part of the season. She has some answers, and now is the time to start to share them … if she’s really interested in getting back trust.
Meanwhile, Emily and Talia seem to be getting closer again, and she helped her with what became a major issue: Emily being told that due to her connection to the Alison case, she may not the right sort of contender for the pageant. We’re somewhat bummed that we may not actually see Emily in the pageant, but Talia may have set her up with a way to get some of that scholarship money for Hanna anyway.
Honestly, this was another one of those episodes that had a ton of filler. We had a little bit of Aria with Andrew, as well, but how much of this episode are we really going to remember? The answer is probably not much, save for that creepy Bible tease at the end end. Grade: C+.
