‘Downton Abbey’ season 5, episode 8 preview (PBS): Joanne Froggatt – Lily James teases
Sunday night’s new episode of “Downton Abbey” on PBS is not going to be the finale, but it may feel like that in some ways. This episode aired as the last of eight consecutive ones on ITV last fall, and there was a break of more than a month before the Christmas Special. With this in mind, there is a certain element of finality to what you are going to see. There will be some major revelations during the hour, including one or two things that will leave you screaming at your TV.
As always, check out five specific teasers from this new episode below. Be warned here that while these are not extremely spoilery, they do still give you a minor sense of what is going to be coming up.
1. Rose’s wedding is a huge theme of the episode, and with “Cinderella” coming up soon, this is one of two times in the next month that Lily James will get to dress up in fancy clothing. (Yes, we realize that these were filmed long in advance.)
2. A huge Anna shocker will make you wonder what in the world the show is doing, though it may get Joanne Froggatt more awards attention.
3. Tom Branson has some news of his own that could dramatically impact his future on the series.
4. The War Memorial will be the setting for at least one touching scene.
5. Like proposals? Aside from Rose, there are going to be two other potential engagements that also take center stage throughout this episode … and there could be even more in the finale. Brace yourselves!
