‘Rizzoli & Isles’ season 5, episode 13 review: Did Jane survive the jump from the bridge?
It has been a while since we’ve had new episodes of “Rizzoli & Isles” and after the huge cliffhanger the show left us with last year, we have been impatiently awaiting it’s return. Watching Rizzoli jump off that bridge to save a suspect (Paul) and Isles screaming after her was thrilling and we can’t wait to see what happens tonight.
This episode threw us right back into the action as we watched the team scramble to find Rizzoli all through the night and into the next day, but there’s no sign of her or Paul.
Was she swept out to sea or did she make it to one of the nearby islands and is just awaiting rescue? She and Paul were both found by a local fishing boat and were both okay, and while we saw Isles give Rizzoli a big hug in relief that she was safe, Isles quickly took off back to work and Rizzoli realized that her actions affected Isles deeply.
When she asks Rizzoli if she thought about anyone else or how her jumping off the bridge was going to affect those in her life, she admits that she didn’t think about Isles, her family or even herself, just saving Paul. Isles is dealing with her own guilt of not being able to do something to stop Rizzoli from jumping, but she is assured that there was nothing she could’ve done to stop her from jumping.
After learning that Rizzoli’s last thoughts as she was plummeting into the water were of all the things she didn’t do in life like learning how to make ravioli, Isles suggests that they each make a bucket list and share it with each other – and she buys Rizzoli a pasta maker, that she promptly breaks. After reading each other’s bucket lists they realize that there isn’t anything on each other’s list that they would want to do together, until Isles suggests an archaeological dig that includes an Indiana Jones hat.
Angela has an interview for a management position for a large restaurant company and she asks Frankie for help getting her prepped for the interview. When she gets to the interview and sees that all the other women applying for the job are very young she gets a little worried, but the man interviewing her assures her that her age has no baring on whether she gets the job or not… she still didn’t get the job though because they wanted someone with a college degree.
This was a really fun episode and after such a dark first half of season 5 with the loss of Frost and Jane’s baby, we needed something light-hearted like this to bring us back to what we love about this show. Episode grade: B-
