‘Empire’ episode 8 preview: First look at ‘The Lyon’s Roar,’ upcoming episodes

What lies ahead on “Empire”? First things first, the crazy thing here is that we really don’t have that many more new episodes this season. The Fox show was only given a short order for its first season, which we wonder if the network regrets now that it has become this runaway smash hit. If there is a silver lining here, though, it is that many more fans will have a chance to catch up on the show in the summer. People tend to stick away when they hear that they have some sort of massive 22-episode commitment to get through before they can really start to enjoy the show live.

The promo below is an extensive one. You’ve got all sorts of great Cookie moments, and stories that are going to continue far beyond “The Lyon’s Role” next week. This episode features a guest spot be Naomi Campbell, and in case you have not seen the full synopsis for this installment just yet, you can do so below:

“It’s time for the Lyon family to come together and record a legacy album with Lucious, Hakeem and Jamal. Cookie and Camilla (guest star Campbell) finally come face-to-face, Andre struggles with some inner demons and Jamal steps into the spotlight with news that surprises everyone.”

If nothing else, expect fights, joyful moments, and family crises. Hopefully, a few of these are of the “you won’t see this coming” variety. “Empire” is so much better when they manage to blow you away.
