‘Arrow’ season 3, episode 14 preview: The arrival of Manu Bennett’s Slade
We’re surprised that Slade Wilson does not use his signature catchphrase in the latest “Arrow” sneak peek from Wednesday night’s new episode, if for no other reason than that this is clearly what he’s known for at this point … in addition to being an awesome killing machine. “The Return” could be a reference to the awakening of Manu Bennett’s character on Lian Yu, just as it could be a reference to Oliver Queen’s brief return to Starling City years before he actually returned from his “five years in Hell.” Did Malcolm Merlyn set Slade free? Did he escape? One way or another, him being out on the run on the island does not bode well for Oliver. This is basically his playground, and he will probably do everything that he can to destroy a man that he hates. After all, he’s had a whole lot of time to sit around and let some of that anger fester since the time he was around him.
What we continue to worry about here is simple enough: Are we going to see the end of Slade on the show in this episode? We don’t want to see the character necessarily go away, but you have to consider that as a sort of possibility right now. He is not a main component in the show anymore, and there may be questions regarding what sort of long-term purpose Slade could really have right now. Also, if there is one person Oliver would really want to kill, it’s him; just because he didn’t do it in the season 2 finale is far from a guarantee he’ll make the same choice here.
The one thing that we do know is rather simple: Thea Queen better not kill him. She’s not strong enough for that, even with her new training.
We’ll have our review of this episode up later tonight! For now, check out the link below for some more “Arrow” scoop, or click here for further updates on everything we cover at CarterMatt via our official newsletter. (Photo: The CW.)
