‘The Celebrity Apprentice’ finale review: Leeza Gibbons, Geraldo Rivera face off; who won?

Tonight on NBC, the big finale for “The Celebrity Apprentice” was here! We knew that this was going to be fun, and from that standpoint, it did not disappoint. We had ridiculous moments left and right, plenty of humor, but at the end of the day, a clash between two “titans” in Geraldo Rivera and Leeza Gibbons.

We have to be honest about this final task: We feel like Leeza completely smoked him, and it was not even close. She not only created a much better Universal Orlando commercial, but she even clobbered him in the fundraising. This proved that he may have used too many of his resources in the early going, and as we have to remember sometimes, the finale shouldn’t be cumulative of the whole season. Does every game in the Super Bowl matter when you get there?

What we worry about here is very simple: Donald Trump. He seemed to almost insult Leeza the moment that she entered the live portion by suggesting that he didn’t think she was tough enough. Then, most of the contestants this season favored her to win. At least Geraldo had the support of Kenya Moore, Gilbert Gottfried, and Kate Gosselin, right? (By the way, phone-gate drama ended up being a whole lot of nothing. We all knew that was coming.)

In the end, we went into the closing minutes with no idea of what in the world Trump was going to do. Yet, he made the right decision: He picked Leeza to win the show! This was the right move in terms of wins and losses, and she becomes the first female winner of the show since the great Joan Rivers. Grade: B+.
