‘Saturday Night Live’: Dakota Johnson of ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ hosting February 28 episode
Well, there is a future beyond tonight’s 50th anniversary special for “Saturday Night Live.” While tonight’s special tonight brought back almost every famous person who is still alive and had a major role in the show, there are still some other episodes that are still to come.
With that in mind, let us announce the host for the February 28 episode: Dakota Johnson. The star of “Fifty Shades of Grey” is going to be making her first appearance as host on the day, with the musical guest being still to-be-determined. We have a feeling that Lorne Michaels is going to nap for a few days after this episode before he really figures out who he wants on the show next. We do understand Dakota as a host: She is current, she has a huge movie, and she also at least has some comedy experience courtesy of the short-lived Fox comedy “Ben & Kate.”
With this being said, we of course do still have reservations, and we almost feel bad for her. How do you follow up a show like this? She’s going to have a hard time getting many big-name cameos on the show, given that the majority of them all made their appearance on this particular episode. Maybe Jamie Dornan is their best hope.
Also, you have to remember here that first-time hosts from the movie-star world are always hit or miss. Every now and then, you get one who is really something special, and they are invited back. Then, you also have many others who are invited once, and then never return.
