Ratings: Did ‘Constantine’ increase season 2 odds?
Tonight, “Constantine” said farewell to season 1, and possibly to its time on NBC, as well. Did the ratings do anything to suggest that we could be seeing any more of the show moving forward? Not exactly.
With that being said, the show at least stayed steady at the same 0.8 rating in the 18-49 demographic that it has drawn for most of the past several weeks on the air. You can at least claim right now as a positive that the ratings for the show have leveled off, and it doesn’t seem that they are getting any lower. Therefore, you have a good idea as to where they would be for a second season, though maybe just a smidgen lower since this sort of thing does tend to happen from one year to the next.
Elsewhere, there were not too many major highlights in the ratings. “Shark Tank” once again won with a 1.8 rating, while “Glee” continues to limp towards the finish line with a 0.6. The show is big internationally, and that may be the only thing that ultimately makes these numbers seem even remotely okay.
We suppose the real thing to watch here is if “Hawaii Five-0” (1.1) or “Blue Bloods” (1.3) will be able to make it another season on the air. Right now, we’d side a little bit more with the latter show, mostly because it consistently draws more total viewers, and also airs in a particularly tough timeslot. Name one other show that has been consistently solid here year after year, other than a news program like “20/20.”

Other than Hannibal I think Constantine is pretty much the only other good show on NBC. I suspect a lot of people, like myself, will be dropping NBC if the show is dropped. I can get Hannibal on HULU+. I’m not going to bother watching a network for it. I had been watching Constantine live on the TV. I hope NBC has enough sense to renew it.
