‘Survivor: Worlds Apart’ castaway spotlight: Will Rodney Lavoie Jr.’s personality carry him to victory?

Rodney -The cast of “Survivor: Worlds Apart” to us seems pretty fun so far through our spotlight series, but there may be a special place in our heart already for Rodney Lavoie Jr. based on what we’ve seen from the guy already. Basically, he may be the first guy we’ve seen who may be an instant All-Star if he makes it far enough.

Do we think that he’ll actually be a good player? Probably not, but we really want him to be. We haven’t had a character quite like him on the show in a long time, and someone who is coming out here with this level of arrogance and swagger about themselves. He is completely insane, but maybe if he is charismatic enough, that works to his advantage.

Name – Rodney Lavoie Jr.

Age – 24

Location – Boston, Massachusetts

Occupation – Contractor

Tribe – Escameca a.k.a. Blue Collar

Strengths – First and foremost, physical strength. He’s a hard-working guy, a former high school athlete who seems somewhat obsessed still about those accomplishments, and he is going to want to prove himself. Also, there’s no doubting that he has charisma. He may be able to charm people and endear him to be on his side in the game. He could be very funny, and when you are so bored out there, these people are nice to have around.

Weaknesses – While he claims that he is a “hustler,” we actually don’t think he is really that cutthroat at all. He’s also like a loud puppy dog who likes to yell, but probably doesn’t want to fight. He’s probably a nicer guy that he wants you to believe. Also, there is no way that he ever fades into the background with that personality. He’ll always be a target.

Past Survivor Comparison – We’d say Mikey B from Micronesia, Eddie from Caramoan, and maybe to a certain extent the original Boston Rob from Marquesas are all good comparisons. He feels like he will be a fun-loving guy, but he has almost no clue about the show. He claims that he’s going to be one of the best players from Boston … which makes us think that he has never actually seen this show before.

Prediction – Rodney will probably wear out his welcome within the first six or seven episodes, which is somewhat of a bummer given that he’s going to be really good TV. We just see him getting into arguments, being too cocky, and not really knowing how to play the strategic part of this game. Still, we’re sure that he will have a good time out there.
