‘Scream Queens’ video: First teaser for Lea Michele, Emma Roberts’ next series
Executive producer Ryan Murphy is one busy man right now. He is still in the process of finishing “Glee,” there is another season of “American Horror Story” in development, and he also has “American Crime Story: The People v. OJ Simpson” coming on FX. That’s a whole lot for someone to have on their plate.
When you consider all of that, it’s pretty easy to forget that “Scream Queens” is even coming. This is a horror-comedy anthology series that he is executive-producing for Fox this coming fall, and he already has a killer cast: Lea Michele, Emma Roberts, Joe Manganiello, Jamie Lee Curtis, Abigail Breslin, and more. Pop star Ariana Grande is poised to recur at some point during the season. Ryan unveiled the first promo for this today below, and it is pretty darn simple: It starts sugary and sweet, but definitely does not end that way.
It’s rather nice to have a teaser for this show at all right now, given that we are not quite sure that there has even been a single frame of footage that has been shot for this just yet. Filming for “Scream Queens” probably will begin a little bit later in the spring once “Glee” wraps, that way there is time for the network to offer up their notes on it.
This is a show that Fox could really use right now, given that they’ve had a very rough past year or two when it comes to comedies. “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” has turned into a solid hit, but “Mulaney” flopped terribly, and “New Girl” and “The Mindy Project” are hanging on for dear life.
