‘How to Get Away with Murder’ episode 12 review: Did Annalise Keating betray her students?
We knew from the tease last week that we needed to get ready for an emotional “How to Get Away with Murder” episode, and we were not disappointed in that regard … except for maybe worried that Annalise Keating would disappoint us and ruin her students’ lives.
Would she really sell out her students for her husband’s murder? She had the opportunity to do that, given that they were the ones physically responsible for what happened. Even still, she had options. She could try to allow them to take the fall, and at one point, she was even encouraged to do this. However, as always, Viola Davis’ character had a deeper plan. Using some slick moves, it was none other than Nate who ended up getting arrested thanks to some newfound evidence.
Does this make Annalise a good person? Hardly. She took care of her students, but incriminated an innocent man in the process. This has to take the cake as one of the most terrible things that we’ve seen her do, and we cannot even say that we’re surprised that she called her mom at the end for support. We don’t really know how she is going to get that, though, especially if she speaks the truth.
While we don’t exactly like Keating right now, we give the writers a heck of a lot of credit for executing a twist that we did not see coming. It’s still not a perfect way to save herself, though; she and the students have to handle the guilt of what they’ve done here, and Hannah still is convinced that she was involved. Grade: A-.
