‘Shark Tank’ preview: Sseko Designs, Lumi, Boobypack, Gold Rush Nugget Bucket, and the Paint Brush Cover
Tomorrow night, “Shark Tank” returns once again to ABC, and we have a couple of products that can really be summarized using one simple word: Odd. They are not ones that we’d go out to a store and buy, or really snag online for that matter, either. Does that mean that they are terrible? Not exactly. We could them appealing to certain audiences out there. We just only tend to go in these previews based on personal preference and that alone.
Luckily, that’s not all of the episode! There are also two others Friday that have a little bit more promise both in terms of creativity, and also with a message of paying it forward. As with all other previews for this show, let’s start by sharing the official synopsis via the network:
“A couple from Portland, OR offer the Sharks an investment opportunity in their line of customized sandals which are manufactured in Uganda, giving poor women an opportunity to go to college with their earnings; a dad from Eugene, Oregon offers a special gold-mining bucket which was inspired by his daughter’s playtime panning for gold; a woman from San Francisco, CA is looking for a “breast friend” to invest in her sports bra that she claims is “a fanny pack for your rack”; and a woman from Los Angeles, CA with a do-it-yourself kit to develop photos with sunlight and transfer images to products fights it out in the Tank. Will the Sharks bite? And a follow up on John & Sal DePaola and Anthony Caputo’s Paintbrush Cover, from Belleville, NJ, in which Lori Greiner invested in Season 5.”
The sharks appearing Friday are Mark Cuban, Barbara Corcoran, Kevin O’Leary, Lori Greiner, and Robert Herjavec. Now, the products!
Boobypack – Well, this title really gives it away! It’s a fanny pack for your … you get the trick. (We’re not being crude; this is how they advertise it!) This is certainly a cheeky idea, and maybe it does have a practical use beyond just being somewhat cheeky. With that being said, we’re the worst person imaginable to discuss it.
Gold Rush Nugget Bucket – It’s an advancement in the gold-panning business! We cannot see the hardcore people like on “Gold Rush” using this, but maybe this is a way to make things either easier or more fun for families or casual gold collectors. It does still seem a little too niche, though, to merit an investment.
Lumi – This one is probably a little too artsy for us, but cool regardless. You know those stores where you can bring in photos and design a shirt based on them? This is a way to do that from the comfort of your home. It takes a few steps to happen, but if you’re creative enough, maybe this could be up your alley.
Sseko Designs – There are so many fashion brands out there, it is so hard to really stand out from the group. This is a brand that really needs to lead off with their story about how they help women in East Africa achieve their dreams, while also earning a fair living. It’s one of the more inspiring stories we’ve heard on the show. We’re not the target customer, so it is hard to actually evaluate the products themselves (which are mostly sandals, handbags, and other accessories).
