‘The Walking Dead’ season 5 spoilers: Michonne and a ‘goal’
The return of “The Walking Dead” on Sunday was something that we were immensely excited about … and then we were very sad almost from the moment we realized what was going on. Losing Tyreese so soon after losing Beth was effectively a punch to the gut; we loved the character, and to lose another person who had so much hope is not an easy thing to take.
So what comes next for the characters? The general assumption is that they do whatever they can to find a new place to call home, but that is not going to be an easy task. Interestingly enough, one of the remaining people who still carries around hope is Michonne, who ironically started off the series as one of the most hopeless. This is something that executive producer Gale Ann Hurd is quick to point out, and she says the following on the subject of the characters’ future to E! News:
“They need a goal. And as Michonnne said, they need to find a place to rebuild a community. And what a journey that’s been for her, the one character who was most a loner of all the people other than maybe Bob to now say, ‘We’ve got to find a place that we can settle down and stop just being on the road.'”
We’ve said for some time that we want to see Michonne in particular have a larger role on this season, so maybe these coming episodes are an opportunity for her to do so? We can only hope so, since without that hope and that sense of a goal, this group is going to be lost.
