‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 11, episode 11 preview: Sarah Drew on difficult choice
Tonight’s episode of “Grey’s Anatomy” is entitled “All I Could Do Was Cry” for a reason. Everyone knows that this is not an easy situation for April and Jackson to be in. If her unborn child receives a Type 2 diagnosis, then it basically means the worst thing imaginable. This entire situation as a whole, though, has been an enormous test of the character’s long-standing faith. She wants to believe that a God she believes in would not do something terrible to her like this, and this particular occasion has even caused Jackson to develop a religious leaning of his own (even if it is temporary).
So how will this episode tonight handle the diagnosis, one way or the other? Mindset is going to be the name of the game for most of the hour, and Sarah Drew, in previewing the episode, tells TVLine that April is going to try to think as positively as she can while still coming to terms with the reality that the child could die:
“She is expecting the worst, but definitely hoping that she’s wrong … [She and Jackson] haven’t decided what they would do if the baby is Type 2, so she is hoping beyond hope that she is wrong about what she feels like is coming.”
In a perfect world, our ideal is that the baby turns out to be fine, and that this story is a means of getting April and Jackson to unify and realize that while they may believe different things, they can still come together when it really matters. This is something they will need if they continue to be married and in a good relationship.
