‘The Following’ season 3 spoilers: The specter of Joe Carroll

Is Joe Carroll really going to be gone from “The Following” season 3? At least in the early going, and if you start to really ask around beyond that, you are going to have a very hard time getting some sort of concise answer to that.

Instead, you are probably going to get a whole lot of answers that are pretty similar to what we have for you below courtesy of series star Shawn Ashmore. Speaking in a new interview with TVLine, the man behind Mike expressed that at least for the early going this season, this nefarious foe is going to be a little more of a distant memory than anything else:

“What I love about this season (premiering March 2) is that the Joe Carroll of it all is behind us, and yet he’s still so interwoven emotionally where these characters are. He’s always sort of with us, which is nice.”

In the early going, there are going to be a number of other big fish to fry on the series. For example, we are going to have an opportunity to see what happened with the truck cliffhanger at the end of last season; not only that, but you have some new villains. The question that you just have to wonder right now is whether or not Joe is really gone, or if some of these new twists are mostly just there to disguise that Joe could be pulling the strings.
