‘Arrow’ season 3, episode 13 video: Laurel Lance becomes a hero in a different way

As you may know, Laurel Lance is quickly well on her way to becoming a hero as the Black Canary on “Arrow.” However, who knew that she would be so willing to throw a punch without the wig and the mask on?

In the video sneak peek below from Wednesday’s “Canaries,” you can see Katie Cassidy’s character take action when Vertigo somehow manages to escape policy custody. One of the guards with him has been hit with the drug, and he starts to see his worst fear in the faces of many of Starling City’s civilians. Chaos erupts, and were it not for Laurel, the body count could have been so much higher.

Now, we have to turn to the negative part of this preview: We’re not a fan of the Vertigo storyline and what the show has turned it into. Basically, it is the Scarecrow, and “Gotham” just did the origin story of Jonathan Crane earlier this week. Not only that, but this is a show that already is using Ra’s al Ghul as the Big Bad this season. We love “Arrow,” but we don’t want to see it become too reliant on common stories from the Batman world.

For those who are not a huge fan of this Vertigo (we prefer the original Count), at least rest assured that the show won’t be spending too much time on him beyond this episode. After all, current plans seem to indicate that we are going to be seeing more of Malcolm, Ra’s, and even Slade Wilson in the near future.
