‘Pretty Little Liars’ season 5, episode 19 review: Talia, Mike, and many secrets
Are there too many new characters on “Pretty Little Liars” this season? We’re starting to feel that way. We’d prefer way more of Toby or Caleb or Ezra than the likes of Andrew or Jonny, who we barely still know, and mostly just feel like the latest in a long line of love-interest-distractions from the people you assume to be endgame.
The one love interest who is slightly interesting to us is Talia, mostly because we’ve learned a thing or two about her past now: She’s married. Also, with Paige all the way on the other side of the country, there is no telling what happens with Emily’s personal life from here on out. The two finished the episode out on better terms, but who knows how long that will last.
Meanwhile, Aria is spending most of her time either having awkward moments with Andrew, or trying to figure out what in the world Mike has got himself mixed up with. He’s clearly in a bad situation, and given that he fought with Mona right before her death … well, we don’t really have to spell that out, do we?
Now, we have to say that we really cannot handle what is going on with Spencer and Jonny. While they are not together right now, we do wonder why in the world she would even entertain doing anything illegal with him now. After all, hasn’t she learned enough from her own mistakes in the past to know better? We would think that she would have, and it is a little unbelievable.
We do still wish that this season was moving a little faster, and while Talia is interesting and Mike is creepy, why not an even bigger cliffhanger? We’re getting somewhat frustrated with the way this show is going right now, mostly because it feels like we are telling a 12-episode story in twice the time. Grade: C+.
