‘Mistresses’ season 3 spoilers: ‘Blue Bloods’ alum scores regular role after Alyssa Milano exit
We knew that “Mistresses” was not going to be a show with only three lead characters for long. Following the surprise exit of Alyssa Milano (pictured with the other regulars), the ABC primetime soap has found a new woman to help anchor the show alongside Joss, April, and Karen.
According to TVLine, former “Blue Bloods” star Jennifer Esposito will be a series regular for the show, and will play the part of Calista Raines. She is a creative director for a popular brand of fashion, and is extremely ambitious buy also somewhat enigmatic. She suffers at times with loneliness, and trying to find her place socially despite coming across in many social situations as a sharp, funny, and very ambitious person. She may be all of these things, but is far more complex than anyone has given her credit for to date.
This should be very great news for fans of Esposito, given that there are many who are still upset over how CBS chose to remove her from the cast of the crime show. She brings with her a fairly sizable fan base, and hopefully that will be enough to convince viewers to not bail on the show, even if Milano is no longer going to be a major part of it.
In the even that you missed the news over the past several months, Milano’s departure is due in part to her being unhappy with the show moving production to Vancouver, and her understandably wanting to stay in the Los Angeles area with her young family.
You can read more about what the show plans to do to write out Milano’s Savi character now at the link here, but it for now feels unlikely that we are going to see the character appear in any form.
