‘Arrow’ season 3 spoilers: Show boss on new Oliver – Felicity dynamic
Do we still feel like Oliver and Felicity could be endgame on “Arrow“? Definitely, but it is hard to deny that the two have a harder road getting there now than they may have had a matter of a week or two ago. While Stephen Amell’s character is now back in Starling City, that does not necessarily mean that he and his fellow Team Arrow member are chummy. It’s anything but. She disapproves of his methods working with Malcolm Merlyn, and that coupled with a variety of other issues has her finally moving forward without much of an interest in the man. Luckily for her, she has someone else in Ray Palmer who seems to love her without so much of the drama.
The good news (which is really the only thing we can offer Olicity fans short-term) is that she will continue to work with the team down in the Arrow-cave. The bad news? Things may look very different. As executive producer Marc Guggenheim tells TVLine, the dynamic is different now that feelings have changed, and the team as a whole has gone through missions together without their fearless leader around ordering people what to do:
“We very much want to explore what it looks like with Felicity still working with Oliver but post the events of Episodes 10, 11 and 12, where she has not only moved on romantically but, along with Diggle and Roy, has developed a bit more ownership and more agency in the “lair,” as it were. It’s going to be interesting to see what happens if Oliver decides to call the shots and expects everyone to just fall in line the way they used to.”
We do not get the sense that Oliver loves change, so suffice it to say that this could be fun. Is it possible that Oliver and Felicity figure things out here by the end of this season? Sure, but he is going to really work at it. It’s all up to Oliver at this point.
For now, just be sure to check out what Felicity will be doing on “The Flash” later this season! Also, you can target some further TV news via email here. (Photo: The CW.)
