Katie Couric not looking to replace Brian Williams on NBC Nightly News
Anytime you have a network in crisis, especially when that network is NBC and people live to make fun of you, you have to be very well aware of the fact that there are many out there desperate to see you fall flat on your face. Also, this means that the press is going to try to jump aboard almost any possible rumor or theory that they can.
What is the latest one? Well, let’s just say it revolves around the idea that Katie Couric could be replacing Brian Williams on the NBC Nightly News after controversy started last week over some inaccuracies in his past statements regarding a helicopter trip in Iraq. We’re not exactly sure what the original source of this rumor is, but we’ve heard it a few times and it is enough to clearly make the former CBS Evening News anchor want to comment on the subject. You can read her denial, via her official Twitter account, below.
NBC has at the moment made it clear that they are conducting an internal investigation, and Williams has already stepped away himself from his responsibilities at the news desk for at least the time being. We still feel like he will not resign or be fired, even if there are a good many out there calling for his metaphorical head.
The only way we see this shifting is if there are a number of other inaccuracies that surface involving other stories he has told in the past, and we will have to wait and see on that.
