Kevin Hart to be host for Comedy Central’s Justin Bieber Roast
The Comedy Central Roast of Justin Bieber is just starting to fill in its roster, and anyone who loves comedy has to be at least fairly pleased with who they have just booked to be the host for the event.
In a statement, Kevin Hart confirmed that he will be leading the charge for the roast when it airs on March 30, and that this is somewhat of a change of form for him given that this is not a sort of comedy that he traditionally performs: “I don’t normally do roasts, but I had to step out for my guy Biebs … It’s his big 21. It’s about to be Operation: Roast Everyone’s A**.” Having Hart, who may very well be America’s most popular mainstream comedian right now, is a huge boost to the show’s ratings. It helps to guarantee that even some Bieber haters will watch.
The rest of the lineup for this particular event is still to be determined, but we imagine that both Jeff Ross and Amy Schumer, who have been staples of the past couple of roasts, will both at least receive an invite. We’d love to see Lisa Lampanelli back, but it’s been years since she has taken part in one of these.
Typically, the formula for these roasts is to get at least a few people who are comedy veterans, and then have a few other people who are more familiar with the guest itself. For example, the James Franco Roast had Nick Kroll, Sarah Silverman, and Ross, but then also Seth Rogen, Bill Hader, and Jonah Hill.
