‘Justified’ season 6: Walton Goggins lands potential post-show gig at HBO
We love Walton Goggins. We love the effort and creativity that HBO puts into their programming. When you consider just about all of this, it really goes without saying that we would also love what is being reported today.
Sources confirm that Goggins has joined the cast of “Vice Principals,” an upcoming comedy that is being created by David Gordon Green and Danny McBride of “Eastbound & Down.” The character that he is set to play on the show according to Deadline is Lee Russell, a political man who happens to be one of the vice principals featured in the title. McBride also stars in the show, and “Boardwalk Empire” alum Shea Whigham has also officially come on board now.
We assumed that it was going to take almost no time for Goggins to get another gig, given his excellence on “Justified” as well as some of the other work he’s done over the years. His role on “Sons of Anarchy” should be a lock for a guest actor Emmy nomination, but given the messed-up voters over there, we’re not entirely sure that it will.
We always knew, as well, that he has the sort of talent and sensibility in order to pull off a proper comedy. The last time we saw him on something like this was “Community,” where he was helping to settle the affairs of a certain Pierce Hawthorne. The entire appearance was completely ridiculous, but also at the same time completely hilarious.
A new episode of “Justified” airs tomorrow night on FX, so be sure to check back here at CarterMatt for a full review and analysis on the episode.
