‘The Walking Dead’ season 5, episode 9: Showrunner on Morgan and the map
While there was not too much during the season premiere of “The Walking Dead” that surprised us this past fall, there is one thing that certainly did: Finding out that Morgan was still out there, and he seemed to be in some ways following in the footsteps of Rick Grimes.
Obviously, the writers and producers are in the process of playing the long game with this character. While we did not see him often during the first half of the season, every time that we have has certainly meant something. Specifically, that map at the tail end of the fall part of the season was important … right? Executive producer Scott M. Gimple certainly seems to be suggesting this in some of his latest comments to Entertainment Weekly on the subject:
“…The map was the second-to-last image of the half-season, so it absolutely will have some significance. It might just be that the map says Rick Grimes on there, and he might possibly believe that Rick is still alive and nearby and in the general area. Could be that Morgan is just a map collector. Probably the former. But yeah, the map will have a good deal of significance.”
Will we see Morgan tonight? The only advice we can offer you is to NOT move away from the TV set until “Better Call Saul” begins. You should know very well by now that this is a storyline that has been set up using teasers at the end of episodes. Personally, we’re hoping for another sighting, even if he is not with the other characters.
