‘Call the Midwife’ season 4, episode 5 preview: Dr. Turner faces his past
Over the course of “Call the Midwife” so far, we have learned already that there are some instances of Dr. Turner being less-than-stellar when it comes to his reputation. After all, there was a red flag that nearly kept him and Shelagh from adopting a child.
However, through season 4, the skeleton’s in this man’s closet have been locked pretty firmly away … but you should know that this is not something that is going to be happening permanently. Next week, the character is going to be forced into confronting a bit of his past; not only that, but we will see another social / political issue in Nonnatus arise when a mother makes a controversial choice for the care of her child. For some further insight into that, take a look at the synopsis below:
“Sister Julienne’s faith is challenged when a mother refuses medicine for her newborn baby. Dr Turner’s involvement in the case forces him to face his own demons. Meanwhile, Barbara must work out a way to communicate with a pregnant Sylheti woman.”
The promo that aired after tonight’s episode featured many an interesting development, which included Shelagh trying to advise Dr. Turner, and a pressing need for some translation at Nonnatus House. This to us remains one of the most interesting facets of the show, given that this is before technology, and before anyone really had an opportunity to be exposed to such things with any regularity at all. We’ll have to wait and see what transpires.
